Christmas Break and Update on Vet School

It's been a busy year in vet school. We are transitioning from strictly lectures and bookwork to more hands on and applicable things in school. Fall term included classes like junior surgery where I was able to neuter a dog and spay both a cat and dog to help local animal shelters adopt them out. It was a little nerve wracking being the one holding the scalpel and performing the surgery but also very exciting. The term also included medicine courses that are designed to help us put everything together from previous years and help us get better for actually diagnosing and treating patients.

During fall term we set up our 4th year schedules. So, that means I now have the rest of my vet school experience scheduled for me until graduation in June 2014. There is a lot still to be done but I'm beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I set up a preceptorship with a vet in Utah while I've been visiting for winter break and I'm looking forward to that during my 4th year. 

Christmas was great! For the first time in a while, we were blessed with a white Christmas. The snow has been fun but I'm hoping for a safe snow-free journey back to Oregon after New Years. As always, I love spending time with my family and relaxing and playing games, watching movies, etc. It will be hard to go back and get back into the school groove but I'm glad for the rejuvenating break and family time.
